Initial research for a new film magazine
what makes magazines popular and famous
- Bright colours which attract the young audience
- title bold and clear
- famous people to pull in customers
- focused on one main target audience .
- a famous quote
most magazines are branded by making known people to be on the front cover to attract audience and to sell the product. Statistics shows that more than 71% people pick out magazines that is bright and colour full for exam Empire which has famous people on the front cover and has bright colours behind them as the background, recent which is targeted to young and older audience ranged 14+. Further more by quoting product it will also keep the product remembered and well know to people which buy more of the product making it stand out from the rest. In addition more customers looks for affordable prices so it needs to be in the correct price range to get people to buy it and where it is available to get it so they have easy access to buy it from so local shops needs to be informed getting more areas in a country to buy it.They must include advertisement and famous brands on it so more information will be in there for people to read about. Words in there should be easy to read and understand so everyone can read it; making the writing clear and bold to read easily. In 2016 Empire was granted award for the most popular magazine and sold 205 thousand of copies just alone in the UK; another stats says that over 316 was sold in 2006 meaning it reduces by 111 thousand by 10 years but on the other hand it was still the most popular magazine in the UK.
comparison
Another magazine that is popular and famous as 'Empire' is 'Entertainment week' which set more of a dark tone by not being colourful as Empire but more as a darker and this is because most of their customers are 20 above aged people that buys the product. Furthermore a clear difference between these 2 is the amount of writing inside the magazine; Empire has less writing compared to Entertainment week this is because of the age groups they have more meaning Empire has most of their audience aged 14 upwards on the other hand Entertainment week based their age group to be over 20+. This is because statistic say over 24 year olds likes more writing than pictures (Croydon guardian). For me personally i like Empire more because its based around my age and how its designed/ laid out.
